Orpington
Orpingtons are my favourite breed. Developed only a few miles down the road in Orpington (hence their name) by William Cook. He first created the black in 1886 soon followed by the buff in 1890 and then the white in 1899. Orpingtons are now on the endangered catergory of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.
A wonderful family chicken, especially with children due to their docile and calm nature. Hens laying approximately 180-190 eggs per year and regarded as a good table bird. Also very good broodies and mothers to chicks.
Here at Sam's Poultry we sell LF Orpingtons in: Buff, Gold Laced, Lemon Cuckoo and Partridge
