Bantam Orpingtons are not true bantams as they have a large counterpart, therefore, they are miniatures. The Orpington bantam first came around in 1900 when the buff was imported from Germany. The black then came around in 1929. The bantams didn't take off until the Orpington Bantam club came around in 1950.
Today both the bantams and large fowl all come under one club called 'The Orpington Club'. www.theorpingtonclub.co.uk
